Assessments In Whole health Naturopathic Practice

In naturopathic practice providers use a variety of assessment tools to obtain objective results regarding an individual’s health status.   Marsden Centre is equipped with diagnostic tools to effectively assess patients. Below are examples of some of the diagnostic/assessment tools used in naturopathic family practice at Marsden Centre.

Comprehensive Physical Exam

The comprehensive physical examination is still the most important evaluation tool in both naturopathic and conventional family practice.  At Marsden Centre providers complete a full physical examination at each general practice new patient visits. Examinations include

  • heart and lungs
  • abdomen (stomach)
  • head and neck
  • nervous system
  • musculoskeletal system
  • and more…:

Traditional Laboratory Assesment

Providers at Marsden Centre use traditional blood and urine assessmnents to screen for or diagnose disease as part of a complete naturopathic assessment.  Providers at Marsden Centre order tests directly through licensed laboratories in the province of Ontario.

We provide copies of results at no additional charge to patients and follow up on test results as soon as they are received.

ECG & Spirometry

ECG and Spirometry are useful primary care diagnostic/assessment tools that play an important role in patient assessment.

The electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) is a diagnostic tool that is routinely used to assess the electrical and muscular functions of the heart. Results of this testing helps Marsden Centre providers determine the need for further assessment and potentially referral.

Spirometry is a common office test used to assess how well your lungs work by measuring how much air you inhale, how much you exhale and how quickly you exhale. Spirometry is used to diagnose asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other conditions that affect breathing.
